Privacy Notice

This notice describes what South Carolina Released Inmates may collect, why the data is used, and when it may be shared. Continued use of the site means acceptance of these practices.

Information You Provide

A name or location entered in a search box passes to the third-party provider that operates that tool. We do not store or log those search terms on our systems. Messages sent by email or a contact form may be retained long enough to answer, and they are not shared beyond the organization unless law requires disclosure.

Automatic Technical Data

Routine server and analytics records may capture technical details when a page loads.

  • Internet Protocol address
  • Browser name and version
  • Device type and operating system
  • Pages viewed and time spent
  • Referring page, when supplied
  • Date and time stamps

Cookies help measure use and support site functions. Browser controls can refuse them, though some features may then act differently.

How Data Is Used

Collected data supports a limited set of operating needs.

  • Run and improve the site
  • Send a search request to the chosen partner
  • Measure which pages are useful
  • Detect and repair technical faults
  • Present advertising that may reflect interests

Government and Outside Links

Links lead to South Carolina jail and sheriff pages, SCDC and SCDPPPS tools, courts, VINE, federal systems, county subdomains, and outside search providers. Each destination applies its own privacy terms. SC VINE permits confidential or anonymous registration, while South Carolina court indexes stopped displaying home addresses in new and existing cases on January 1, 2026. Those source rules do not transfer to this site. Advertising partners may measure activity across sites on their own systems.

Who May Receive Data

We do not sell personal information. Data may be handled by search partners that process a query, analytics services, advertising networks, and law-enforcement or government bodies acting under a valid legal order.

Security Practices

Reasonable safeguards are used to protect information. No internet-connected service is completely secure, however, and we cannot promise that a breach or unauthorized access will never occur.

Visitors Under Eighteen

This site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. A parent or guardian may request deletion if a minor submitted data.

Your Data Choices

Subject to applicable law and verified identity, a user may ask for a copy of personal data held by the site, correction of an error, deletion, or an opt-out from certain processing. Rights can vary by location and may be limited by legal retention duties.

Changes to This Notice

This policy may be revised as site practices or legal duties change. A new version becomes effective when posted here with its updated effective date.
